Monitor starts to smell and smoke due to faulty power supply.
Cause:
The power supply in the display unit is bad.
Solution:
Turn off the computer, disconnect the display unit and replace the display unit.
1) Turn off the computer and all components.
2) Unplug the display unit from the electrical outlet.
3) Unplug all components.
4) Discard the old display unit.
5) Replace the display unit with a new display unit.
6) Plug all components back in and turn on the power.
